Running shoes on and off you go
A total of over 54 km of running routes guarantee the best conditions for all runners. The various tails have all been assessed and tested by running experts.
You can decide what challenge you want the route to offer – from easy to medium-difficult and difficult. Marked trails and signposts indicate the route you should take.
Numerous running events take place in Lech and the surrounding area each year for ambitious runners, inviting guests to take part. It should also be noted that the high-altitude training effect has a positive impact on health and improves well-being in the long-term. This was proven by an AMAS scientific study conducted in Lech in 1998, among others.
Beginners’ routes around Lech
- The route around the Lech Promenade is ideal for beginners to running. It consists of a short, flat training route in the centre of Lech. The 1.4 km route is lit throughout and can therefore be used for running even after dark.
- The 2 valleys route is somewhat more challenging. This medium-difficult and very varied route runs from Zürsbach via an attractive crossing under the Flühen to the Walkerbach. The route is around 7 km long and can be completed in around 2 hours.
Challenging and attractive routes
- There are also numerous routes available to experienced and well-trained runners. The Weibermahd Ascent, for example, is a steep mountain run which can also be tackled as a circular route with a flatter descent. The route is approx. 8.5 km in length with an altitude difference of over 500 m.
- Another very challenging route is the Lech Banks Run. This long yet beautiful tour through the Lechtal valley extends over 11.7 km along the Lech with a height difference of over 300 m.
Running events in Lech am Arlberg
The holiday region of the Arlberg offers plenty of events all year round. One of them could be of particular interest to runners.
Since 2019, trail and mountain runners have been able to give their all at the "The White Ring – the Trail Challenge". There is a choice of the "Small Hero Rating", 11.1 km and 665 altitude metres, and the "Big Hero Rating", 28.9 km and 2,300 altitude metres. The longer route can be run in relays. The run starts in Lech, then continues on to Oberlech, over the Kriegeralpe and the Balmalpe. At the end you either return via Zug, Madloch Joch, Zürs, Monzabonalpe and Rüfikopf, or else head straight back to Lech.
