Cross-country skiing in Lech Zürs am Arlberg Trails

Lech-Zürs am Arlberg is a veritable paradise for cross-country skiing. There are around 30 km of highly varied trails for beginner and experienced cross-country skiers – including alpine panoramas at 1,450 m and above.

Lech am Arlberg has 27 km of beautifully prepared cross-country trails and skating routes for winter sports enthusiasts – and they’re all free. Three different levels of difficulty mean there is just as much for pleasure skiers as for professionals. The trails are all in the middle of the fascinating mountain world of the Austrian Alps.

Trails to suit every taste

As well as 17 km of skating trails, you can also look forward to 10 km of cross-country trails, where you can employ the classic cross-country technique. The highly varied network of trails with plenty of options for beginners, returning, and experienced skiers promises wonderful times in exceptional surroundings.

The route from Lech to Zug is a hot cross-country tip. It starts in the centre of Lech, then rises gently to 49 m, past the fish pond, where you then turn around to return or, alternatively, pop into the Gasthof Älpele for some refreshment.

Other attractions include a 6.6-km route through the Spullerwald forest and a cross-country trail from Zürs over the Flexenpass.

From Zug you also have the choice of a 10.5 km trail of moderate difficulty up the Älpele and across the Tannlägeralpe.

Important to remember: The trails all start in the valley, not at the Burg Hotel in Oberlech. You can easily get here on the Bergbahn cable railway. The best way to get around town itself is on the village buses – you can easily leave your car behind.
