Our summer still takes a while, in fact until 17 September. Then we are closing our hotel doors for several weeks again. So it is thus time for a short review to a eventful summer. It began with the season start on 23 June and Arlberg Classic Golf Cup and Arlberg Classig Car Rally – a custom-made start with a lot of joy on new greens and much PS in all vehicles.
A first highlight was for sure the Honorary Needle Meeting from 8 – 16 July, which coincides with the 67th Arlberg Music Festival. Many regular guests, who spent their holidays already ten or more years with us, have been honoured for their loyalty – with the honorary needle badge. The Arlberg Music Festival was a great musical entertainment for this meeting.
‘You have only really been, where you have already been walking’ is a well-known hiker motto. The Burg Hotel’s hiking weekends have been also very popular. Lech’s mountain world enchanted our customers from the first moment – be it the cosy walk, family-friendly tours or challenging, Alpine undertakings on impressive summits of Oberlech’s mountain world. The new panoramic hiking bus and Lech Card, which already includes the road toll into the valley of Zug, were also well perceived in Zug.
What started in 2010 with great enthusiasm, was successfully continued in the beginning of July 2017: The idea of giving young wine growers the chance to present their wines to guests and gourmets in a relaxed environment. During the Young Wine Growers’ Gathering 2017 well-trained young wine growers from Austria presented their excellent wines. After this event our wine cellar is filled again with wonderful quality wines from different regions.
Additional highlights – you will find again in our programme next year and which you should not miss – have been the golf events in the valley of Zug. This highest golf course in Austria is so naturally included into its surroundings that it is hard not to be distracted by the mountain world, Rote Wand, Lech river etc. from the great play.
We are of course particularly proud of our Kriegeralpe – the most beautiful Alpine hut on Arlberg, where our guests can experience delightful hours: thanks to the house-made Alpine cheese and cream cheese, self-smoked sausages and further fine specialities from the Alpine cuisine. Alone until end of August we have produced more than 1.700 kg cheese. Purely organic, from best Alpine herbs. Always controlled by ‘Gormley’, the installation of Antony Gormley, which is looking down at 2.039 m to Kriegeralpe.
